The EoC PDC Learning Hub.

EoC PDC ONLINE COURSE

This is an online program covering the standard permaculture curriculum recognized worldwide. Students, upon completion of course requirements, will be certified permaculture designers, and will continue to have access to the EoC PDC Learning Hub (for as long as it exists) to further their learning amongst permaculture peers.

I myself learned permaculture online through the Permaculture Education Institute (PEI) by Morag Gamble, one of the permaculture pioneers in Australia. While some prefer in-person design courses (and there are a few available in the country), I personally was thankful to have found PEI’s online PDC, as I was able to learn and go through the course materials with the specific intricacies of my own permaculture site close to my mind and hands. It allowed me to ask questions specific to what I was observing in my own site and apply any learnings I could right away to the food forest I wanted to grow. Taking my PDC online also allowed me to learn at my own pace.

The EoC PDC Online Course is a self-paced program. The fee is Php15,000 per student, with need-based scholarships available. If you are helping grow a food forest for a marginalized community or for a public school, I’d be happy to consider giving you a scholarship. If you work in the nonprofit sector or really want to learn permaculture, but the fee is too high for you to cover, please reach out and we’ll try to work something out. This fee helps me keep the program running and updated (platform fees, as well as honoraria for EoC Session speakers), as well as available to those who may not be able to afford it. Paying in installments is also possible (eg, Php5,000 per month for three months or Php3,000 per month for five months).

Students get access to:

  • 11 Learning Modules (with multiple lessons per module) and any updates to the modules. Upon enrollment, the student gets access to the Welcome and Kamusta Modules. Each succeeding module may be accessed once requirements for the previous module have been submitted and approved.

  • A one-on-one live session/consultation (1 hour) with me to discuss your permaculture design.

  • The EoC PDC Learning Hub, which does not only have the modules but is also an interactive forum where students can exchange ideas and answer each other’s questions (although full disclosure, at least for now, I am the one mainly answering questions and providing feedback as there is only one active student at the moment).

  • Permaculture Design Presentations of past students. You’ll be able to watch students talk about how they designed their permaculture sites using the lessons they’ve learned in the EoC PDC Online Course.

  • Recorded EoC Session Videos featuring selected speakers on various topics that are relevant to permaculture. I will be restarting these EoC sessions this month, hopefully hosting and posting one live session on a different topic every month. Past session topics include:

    • Indigenous Knowledge and Wisdom (by Robert Cahapon)

    • Permaculture Design for Large Areas (by Gabriel Razo)

    • Intuition (by Nico Pablo)

    • Fermentation (by Mabi David)

  • EoC Foragers - a separate forum where myself, EoC students and alumni, as well as select permaculture practitioners (including EoC Session speakers) may post updates about their permaculture practice or food forests or nature in general, for sharing or for feedback. I will resume posting weekly updates here this month. It is my hope that this can become a welcoming community for permaculture practitioners in the Philippines.
